Christmas Plants
The poinsettia usually comes to mind when you hear "Christmas flowers". Even so, colors also represent the season a lot. Red, white, green, & even violet are usually associated with the season, so putting them together in a flower arrangement (sometimes regardless of the types of flowers used) mostly already stand for the holidays.
Traditionally speaking when it comes to the Yuletide season, an arrangement of poinsettias would be the surest bet. The star-shaped leaves and vibrant scarlet color of the flower provide a marvelous holiday-making contrast against other lustrous ferns & green leaves.
Another good choice for your Christmas bouquet is the winter rose, which is sometimes referred to as the Christmas Rose. It is a delicate, creamy-hued flower with large buds which can be found along the mountains of central Europe during winter.
Gerberas from South Africa, with their deep colours & thick petals, are also a common choice. Let your florist to combine them with several colors of daisies, lilies, orchids, or even red & yellow roses to create a beautiful Christmas bouquet or centerpiece.
Iris, tulips, carnations & mums are other flowers commonly used in Christmas arrangements.
Last, request your floral arranger to add a "Christmas touch" to your arrangement with a few decorations & leaves. The use of holly, pine leaves and cones, rough juniper, noble fir, boxwood, fern or cedar leaves, sparkling thistle, silver twigs, and ilex berries to adorn the flower arrangements add to that seasonal look. Your florist can even try using artificial items like plastic or ceramic reindeer, snowmen, pine cones, colored ribbons and colorful tree balls could contribute to a special Yule arrangement.
