To avoid getting scabies, stay in clean places that are not inhabited by too many people. It certainly helps to take precautions with clean living, but there is always a possibility of getting something like scabies. If you suspect that you could have scabies, then find out what the symptoms are and see your doctor immediately. Mites treatments are often identical to the ones intended for head lice treatment.

Scabies has been treated quite successfully by using two different topical treatments, Ivermectin and Permethrin. Once applied, it is left on for anywhere from eight hours to fourteen hours at which time it is washed off the body. Before you begin the treatment, your doctor will explain all that you need to do.

One very common treatment for scabies is Elimite which is prescription permethrin. If you have to choose, Elimite is your best choice because of its lower toxicity rating in regard to human use. If you do have an infant that gets scabies, doctors will prescribe permethrin in order to help their condition.
