Charming Central Portugal

There you will find your local Mayors, a gym and bike hire shop, several mini shops which have cafe/bars next door and two fantastic children's parks along with primary level education opportunities.

For those who are keen on the outdoor life there are a range of recreational facilities and opportunities in the vicinity including horse rides, bike rides, climbing and pleasing forest walks. In a matter of minutes, you can reach many waterside locations where you can enjoy a many water activities including sailing, kayaking, pedalo hire, fishing and swimming. This region has a stunning amount of lakeside scenes. There are many restaurants available locally where you can sample some Portuguese cuisine or you could visit the Montebelo Aguiera Lake resort and spa for some pampering.

Lagares has stunning mountain views to be enjoyed. You can reach the mountains in just twenty five min's where you will find the Montebelo golf course. Situated amongst the Serra da Estrela and Serra do Caramulo mountain ranges, this fantasticgolf course benefits from some of the most breath taking surroundings in Portugal.

The small town of Pedro de Alva is merely 4 kilometres from Lagares. Here you will be able to visit banks, the post office, health clinic, schools and yet more cafe's and bars to choose from. The larger towns of Mortagua, Penacova and Santa Comba Dao a 15 minute drive away will fulfil any metropolitan desires and have some well stocked larger Supermarkets to choose from. The City of Coimbra merely thirty minutes drive away too. Coimbra in particular is a great choice for a visit. Of particular interest is its University, Universidade de Coimbra, one of the oldest Universities there is. This establishment was founded in 1290. Also the ancient buildings of this wonderful city are sure to charm and stay with you a long time too. Close by\Just 10 min's away is Conimbriga, where you could visit the notable Roman ruins open for visitors.

From Lagares you can visit the Serra da Estrella National Park an hour away with skiing facilities available part of the year. In under an hour you can reach the coast at Figueira da Foz and Praia da Tocha.
